Volume 3, Issue 1 - January 2008
Greetings, folks...
Another year is getting under way and that means it's a good time to reflect on the recent past and the road ahead.
I have a recommendation for you, which can be summed up in just four words: tear down your silo.
We all know it's hard to balance the demands of work life and personal life. Sometimes, we spend so much energy on this balancing
act that we get trapped in a particular way of thinking, or a particular point of view. We might start to see a problem as something that has to be endured, rather than solved. We assume things will never change, and slip into a mental rut.
One way to address that is to make an active effort to break out of whatever silo you might be in. Reach out to people who are outside your usual circle, strike up a conversation and see what they think. Talk to people in
other departments, other industries and other walks of life. You'll find that it can charge you up, and give you fresh ideas about your day-to-day concerns.
And those fresh ideas might help make 2008 a better year!
