The Mission

The client needed a staffing partner to augment its internal intranet team. The intranet, used heavily by all employees, was in need of upgrades and enhancements. Code had been added over time by various internal team members and had not been managed consistently. So in addition to the enhancements themselves, work was needed in the area of source code control and management.

 

The Approach

The initial phase of the work involved conducting a code assessment. A source management control process was developed, allowing for consistency and reuse of existing code.

Working with internal team members, InSys provided programming expertise as well as tool, process and methodology recommendations in the area of source code management. Internal training in all processes created was developed and delivered.

 

The Results

The client's intranet now has processes in place to manage its source, allowing for the reuse of code and creating a consistency in "look and feel" across the site.
The newly instituted processes and methodologies make it faster, cleaner and easier to add new code, while also making it easier to maintain old code. The client can keep the intranet running well with fewer programmers, thereby reducing costs.
